Schools In Spain
School is mandatory between the age of 6 and 16 years. State education is free - parents just pay for books etc. To get your child into a Spanish school you will need proof of a Spanish address, the full birth certificate & a passport and immunisation record.
For older children you may need the school record ie qualifications etc. Depending on the area you may get a choice between Spanish state school & English speaking international schoool, however children of all ages are warmly welcomed into the Spanish state system and within a very short amount of time you will fingd your youngster talking Spanish to anyone who will listen.
Obtaining A Residency Permit
Obtaining a residency card in Spain is neccessary for anyone planning to work, study, or live there indefinately.
Children under the age of 18 can be included on the parents residency card.

Utilities In Spain
Immediately after buying a property in Spain you will be asked to sign a contract with the local electric water & telephone companies - they will need to see your passport or N.I.E. certificate. These contracts should be kept securely as they may be needed when the property is resold.
Bringing Pets To Spain
Spain is an active member of the pet travel scheme (PETS) which will allow cats and dogs to be imported without quarantine providing certain conditions are met. Your pet will need vaccination, blood tests and a microchip before the final health certificcate can be issued. Check with your vet for more details.

Buying Cars In Spain
In order to buy a Spanish registered car you will need a residency card or deed (escritura), a rental cotract for a Spanish property, or a certificate of residence in Spain (cerificado de empadronamiento).

There are many jobs in Spain for foreigners. Nevertheless, throughout the coastal areas, many jobs are seasonal. Working in Spain depends to a certain extent what you can and are able to do. Most of the qualifications gained in Europe and the UK are recognised in Spain. |
